ok, so its been a week and none have you have seen the blog, the reason being that I didn't send you the link, the reason for that is because I hadn't posted anything yet...well now I have and so you better read the blog...which you are right now...I win...anyway I will try and keep up with it now as my on little journal to keep track of what happens here, good for me because my memory is shizer as some many of you might know. As for what has been going on during this past week and general comments/observations about Vienna so far: I have just gotten back from dropping my parents off at the airport, it was sad. I think everyone has those trips where they are with their parent(s) and are embarrassed at points. Really though, I found it quite sad and lonely after watching them go through the security line, I was alone in a strange place surrounded by German speaking people with no where in particular to go or anyone to see it with, not really a sunny state of mind; even though parents may be embarrassing(ie, talking very loudly in museums and being those noisy Americans")at times, the truth is that the time I spent with them here was very fun and it was nice to spend time with them in general as we all know the first year of law school is not kind as far as family time goes. I was sitting there waiting for my ride back into town and I kept catching glimpses of men out of the corner of my eye who looked like my dad standing there waiting, my mom close by...very sad...but anyway, bottom line, nice to your parents Mustafa says to be. Enough of that though, general comments: Vienna at first appears run down but I think its just because the buildings get dirty and they have to clean them which takes time, but the city itself is actually very clean, the streets and such are kept very well, the landscape management could use some work however, but most of the parks are very nice. The people stink, both physically and personally...this is of course a massive over generalization but mostly true, the people dont use deodorants like we do and i think they shower less...and they all smoke..I mean everyone, its sick....I want stock in which ever company is selling them...the amount of euro-trash here is mind blowing, I mean totally staggering, picture Nathan but a foot shorter, no one needs to worry about this place trying to take over the world again because all the guys are as skinny as the girls and they smoke anyway so its not like they run very far, and news flash Austria, Goth and mowhawks = so 1999. anyway the people on the street are kinda assholes...well not kinda, they are, but the waiters are super super nice and great and I think its more that they are just cold in public or something. Foodwise this place has been great so far, if you are a big time meat eater, sorry ben, but there are some veg places around town and the produce that they do serve is superb, for that matter the produce and fruits you can buy on the street or in stores are all very very good so thats a plus. Ill have some pics up a bit later with examples of some of the food and stuff as well as places I have been to so far. 2 funny stores though, yesterday my parents had to move rooms because the 2 rooms around theirs was infested by some arab family and apparently they come here to get away from the heat and they let their kids do what ever they want ( according to the hotel guy), so they were screaming and slamming doors and running in the hallways all night and the parents were running back and fourth btw the rooms screaming at the kids and beating them all night as well...very annoying. the other story is coming back here to my apt(more on that later and the weeks events) I had a Persian driver who was quite upset that he was kicked out of the glorious Persian racing circuit, to much cologne (fire hazard), so he decided to become a shuttle driver...
180 kilometers = 111.846815 miles/hour was what he was going getting back to the inner city, this isnt the autobahn in Germany, there are speed limits, which we was going almost double...so that was fun as well. He had nice hair though, it reminded me of King Leonidas's beard in 300, very stiff and perfect...but of course his beard was more so because it was soaked in the blood of dead Persians. Return later for pictures and update, Mustafa
